Knysna Film & Events

The Knysna Estuary starts at the Knysna Heads where the tidal sea water covers about 20 km² to the river meandering inland along farms and small holdings.

The level of the water is influanced by the tides. 

Belvidere hosts the Knysna Midway Classic Regatta and Heads Race annually in October; for schools that compete in rowing in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape Provinces.

The lagoon caters to many sporting events such as the BIG5 Sport Challenge, one of the highlights of the annual Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival.

This prestigious multi-sport event includes the Momentum Knysna Cycle Tour MTB Race, the Momentum Knysna Forest Marathon 21km Run, The Featherbed Trail Run, Knysna Dragon’s Lagoon Mile Swim.

The BIG5 Sport Challenge has become a bucket list item on the local and international endurance and adventure race calendar.
